Simon Lockyer married Sarah Sherring. She was the daughter of John Sherring and his wife Joanna
(née Budden). I do not yet know the relationship between Sarah and Simon's mother, but I suspect
that Sarah was Simon's cousin. Like many in those days, Simon only made it into his fifties (died 7
December 1840), but Sarah lived for another fourteen years until her death in 1854. They are both buried
in the same grave in the churchyard at St Michael and All Angels in Verwood, together with their son James.
